Rajasthan has urged businessmen from Tamil Nadu to consider expanding their investment projects in the state. In this regard, representatives of the Rajasthan government today have met around 120 businessmen, mostly members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Tamil Nadu.
“We are not here to steal away the industry. We are asking industries looking at expanding to come to Rajasthan,” said Gajendra Singh, minister of industries, Rajasthan government.
The visiting team is expected to hold discussions with the officials of Hyundai, Ashok Leyland among others.
Veenu Gupta, principal secretary (industries), Rajasthan government, said the state had all the facilities, including better infrastructure, industrial policy and good governance.
She noted the state has a land bank of 4000 acre, and another 4000 acre would be acquired in the next three months for industrial use.
According to her, the Delhi-Mumbai industrial freight corridor (DMIC) would smoothen transport of goods from the state to the nearest port to less than 24 hours, as against the current two days. She added 40 per cent of the works in the DMIC project were located in Rajasthan, which will have 13 railway stations as part of the project.
With respect to availability of skilled human resources, she said, in the recent years around 500 education institutions had been set up in the state, and these would cater to the industry demand. Around 300 industrial parks are operating in Rajasthan, she noted.
The team is in Chennai to participate in an investor meet organised by the Government of Rajasthan, in association with the CII.
The event is part of a series of roadshows being held across India and abroad to promote investment opportunities in the state under the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit to be held in Jaipur on November 19-20.
