The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the ministry of tourism are jointly organising the Fifth International Conference and Showcase on Tourism & Heritage here during November 17"19. Rajasthan will be the partner state and South Africa the partner country for the event.

According to the CII, globally the tourism industry is coming out of its post-911 slump and India must, therefore, seize this opportunity.

However, the CII feels in order to put India firmly on the world tourism map, certain key issues need to be addressed. Issues like whether India is a tourist-friendly country and whether the growth of this industry can go hand-in-hand with efforts to conserve the country's archaeological heritage.

These and such other issues will be discussed at the international conference.

Also, on the agenda are issues like the state of infrastructurein the country, the evolution of new technologies, emergence of new destinations and changing consumer demands.

The conference has attracted a number of luminaries from the world of tourism, travel and hospitality, apart from senior policy makers, who will speak and share their experiences.
