Access to cheap agriculture credit and low fertiliser prices will be the new political mantra of the Union agriculture ministry to counter the Opposition attempt to give the government an anti-farmer image.
Union Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh has revived the political agenda set by Ajit Singh, his predecessor, whose proposals for concession to farmers were always frowned upon by the finance ministry.
But Singh appears confident to have his way even when the finance ministry is believed to have reservations on many proposals.
