The Chhattisgarh government today sought the approval of Legislative Assembly to spend additional Rs 1034 crore during 2010-11.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the second supplementary demand for grants for spending Rs 10,33,72,59,800 in the current fiscal. The House would debate on the demands on Wednesday.
The second supplementary demand for grants was presented amidst chaos in the House.
The opposition members, demanding Singh's resignation for deteriorating law and order situation in the state, were raising slogans when the chief minister tabled the supplementary demands.
The finance department had, however, curtailed most of the demands submitted by various departments. According to finance department officials, proposals worth more than Rs 4000 crore were submitted. The Chief Minister cut short the lists with the assurance that it would be included in the full budget.
In the supplementary demands, the state government had sought approval for raising a battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) besides improvising electricity system in the temporary camps of security personnel deployed in the interior areas to combat the Naxalites.
The government also sought approval for Rs 10 crore for the interest subsidies to the industries.
