A day after he broke his indefinite fast, doctors on Monday said yoga guru Ramdev is likely to be discharged tomorrow from the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Jolly Grant hospital here, as his health is showing signs of improvement.

“He may be discharged tomorrow, provided all his parameters show improvement up to our satisfaction,” they said.

Since yesterday, Ramdev has been taking fruit and juices and is feeling better now. He has also started walking within the hospital premises, said

S L Jethani, the medical superintendent. But fluctuations in his blood pressure continues to cause concern, added Jethani.

Ramdev broke his nine-day hunger strike yesterday after being persuaded by spiritual leaders Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Murari Bapu. He had been agitating since June 4 demanding a tougher anti-corruption law and seeking the return of the black money stashed away in banks abroad. “We are monitoring his health every half-an-hour,” Jethani said. “He wants to go. But we advised him to take rest till today. A team of doctors will decide whether or not he can be discharged tomorrow,” he informed.

He said there was improvement in his condition but he has been complaining of weakness and fatigue. “There is improvement in his liver’s functioning. He is taking rest after breaking his fast yesterday,” the doctor said. Ramdev was admitted to the hospital on

June 10 after his condition deteriorated at his Patanjali Yogapeeth ashram in Haridwar.
