Supporting the growing demand for Ramdev to end his ongoing hunger strike, Janata Dal (United) chief and the convener of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Sharad Yadav, has urged the yoga teacher to end his fast as all the attention was shifting towards his fast instead of ending corruption and bringing back black money. Taking a dig at Ramdev, he elaborated that his party believed in leading agitations and not sitting on hunger strikes.
“Ramdev is being given glucose. He should break his fast. We don’t support hunger strikes as they sideline the real issues of corruption and black money stashed in foreign banks abroad. There is a need for people to protest and lead agitations, but not sit on hunger strikes,” said the JD(U) chief.
Yadav also said he didn’t support Ramdev’s call to form an army and lead another Ramlila ground type agitation in Delhi with the same. Supporting the recently started popular protests in the capital, he attacked the government for using police force to evict agitators from the Ramlila ground. He questioned the union government sending four ministers to talk to Ramdev when he arrived at Delhi airport and later meeting him at a hotel, but using force against common people.
