Ranchi to get mega food processing unit

An international standard mega food processing unit would be set upsoon in Ranchi, Union food processing minister Subodh Kant Sahai said.
 
Addressing a seminar on 'Potential for Food Processing Industries in Jharkhand', he said a technical centre would be set up at the Ranchi Agriculture University, which would provide information and guidance on potential for establishing food processing units in the state.
 
Stating that a Kolkata-based company has expressed its desire to procure vegetables from the state, Sahai called on over 150 food processing entrepreneurs who attended the seminar to avail the sops provided in the union budget like the zero per cent tax and other subsidies for setting up their units in state.
 
The Union government, he said, extended all facilities for development of food processing centres across the country through subsidies and grants.
 
The government would look after problems of entrepreneurs in processing and marketing their products, he said.
