Rao, Gowda Dragged Into Karnataka No-Trust Debate

Initiating a discussion on the no-confidence motion against the three-month old Patel ministry, Opposition leader B S Yediyurappa stunned the House by presenting supporting documents to buttress his charge. The beneficiaries are P V Narasimha Rao's son P V Prabhakara Rao and Deve Gowda's daughter-in-law Sangita Ramesh and other relatives.

This government has connived with Sangita Ramesh by allowing her to unauthorisedly occupy land belonging to a Hindu trust and Muslim Khabarstan to set up a petrol bunk, he alleged amidst vociferous protests from the treasury benches.

When he presented documents pertaining to the deal, the treasury benches fell silent. At one stage, agriculture minister C Byre Gowda, who protested against taking the name of non-members of the House, was forced to say: Whomsoever he or she may be or however powerful they may be, if anyone had committed any misdeeds, the government will act against them.

 

The BJP leader accused P V Prabhakara Rao of grabbing government and village commonland to the extent of over 1,000 acres to set up a 16 hole golf course of international standards. The company has since put a tall compound wall with electric wires above 1,000 acres of land at Eagelton
