RBI relaxes norms for its ED selection

Interviews for three vacancies to be held next week

With three executive directors' post will have to filled up at the Reserve Bank of India, the central bank has decided to relax the norms to accommodate more candidates. The residual service period criteria have been reduced to 2 years from 3 years.

The central bank has nine executive directors, and one of them S Karuppasamy, retired recently. R Gandhi, who was executive director, has now been promoted to deputy governor. Also, G Gopalakrishna, one of the executive directors is moving to Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) as a director.

CAFRAL - a research institute, is promoted by RBI. Usha Thorat, CAFRAL's present director, has completed her term and is given an extension till a new person is appointed.

 

About fourteen chief general managers and principal chief general managers of the central bank has been called for the interview, scheduled next week.
