RDO probe ordered into boy surgeon issue

An inquiry by a Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) has been ordered into the shocking incident of a 15-year-old boy, the son of a doctor couple, performing a caesarean operation at a maternity hospital run by them at Manapparai recently.

District Collector Ashish Vachhani, who ordered the probe, said the RDO would be assisted by the Deputy Director of Health Services and the Joint Director of Medical Services here.

The inquiry report was expected to be submitted in three weeks time, he said adding based on it, necessary action would be taken.

Seeking to set a record, Dhileepan Raj, a class X student, performed the surgery at the family run Mathi Surgical and Maternity Hospital with his partents watching.

The incident has sent shock waves among the medical fraternity and the Tamil Nadu chapter of Indian Medical Association has condemned it.
