The Indian rupee gained 10 paise to trade at Rs 45.73 a dollar against the US dollar in early trade in the foreign exchange market today, in tune with equities which were trading higher on sustained capital inflows.

The local currency had closed at three-month high of Rs 45.83/84 against the dollar in the previous session.

Forex dealers said fresh capital inflows into equities by foreign funds and firming Asian currencies against the dollar provided support to the rupee.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index, Sensex rose by 97.58 per cent to a fresh 32-month high of 19,692.33 points in the opening trade today on surging capital inflows.
