The Chhattisgarh government had cancelled the registration of nearly 24,000 bogus and defunct companies in the state, officials said.

Initiating action against the bogus and non-performing companies, the state government’s commercial tax department cancelled the registrations of 23,960 companies, official sources said.

Action against these companies came as no transaction was found by these companies over a long period of time.

According to department officials, besides Raipur, action was also taken against companies in other parts of the state, including Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Raigadh, Sarguja, Korba, Durg and Rajnandgaon.
