Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Energy Ltd-led consortium has won the bid to construct the high-speed metro rail line between the Capital's Indira Gandhi International airport and New Delhi Railway Station, a project estimated to cost Rs 3,800 crore.

"The project is under the public-private partnership programme and we have issued the letter of acceptance to REL-led consortium to appoint them as concessioners," a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official said.

He said while the DMRC would be responsible for the civil work for the Rs 3,800-crore project, the private partner would be responsible for building, running and operating the 22.7 km high-speed metro system. Spain's CAF is also a party in the REL-led consortium.
