Relief material lost in the flood waters of Kosi

Relief materials worth over Rs two lakh meant for distribution among the flood victims of worst hit Madhepura district were lost when a country made boat carrying government officials and relief materials overturned near Mojama village in Kosi river, official sources said today.     

The relief material consisting of foodgrains and cash were lost and five government officials travelling in the boat including the Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR) Brijendra Prasad, Block Development Officer Satya Prakash Sharma, Land Acquisition Officer Brijesh Kumar, Nazir Manoj Kumar and NREP engineer suresh kumar had a miraculous escape after the boat overturned yesterday, sources said.     
Superintendent Of Police O N Bhaskhar told reporters here that the officials were on way to Mojamma village to distribute the GR comprising 100 kg of foodgrains and cash amount among the flood victims when the incident took place.     

 

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Madhepura district has eased further with river Kosi maintaining a receeding trend, official sources said.
