The office of the Union Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) has questioned the capacity addition got done by Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (Ireda), leading lender to the clean energy sector.
It notes Ireda’s share in the country’s total commissioned capacity was 52.8 per cent at the beginning of the 10th five-year Plan (2002-07), declined to 19.2 per cent at the end of that Plan and further to 7.7 per cent at the end of the 11th Plan. “Thus, Ireda was not able to sustain its position as a leading financial institution in the RE sector,” says the CAG report.
This comes as the government plans 175,000 Mw of RE capacity addition by 2022, inviting finance of $200 billion (Rs 1.25 lakh crore).
