Revenue collections fell short of the target set at the beginning of the year, according to finance minister K Rosaiah. At a meeting on revenue mobilisation from various departments, he said the commercial taxes department achieved 91 per cent revenue collection, excise 113 per cent, transport 95.2 per cent, stamps and registration 70 per cent, mines and geology 79 per cent, forest 44.8 per cent and land revenue stood at 112.5 per cent.
The cumulative achievement was 93.2 per cent. The meltdown would have an impact on the state revenues in the last quarter, he added. Meanwhile, the state government has begun efforts for the preparation of the 2009-10 budget. The Assembly vote-on-account session would begin in the first week of February to pass it before the general elections.
