Roads are one of the government’s top capital spending areas as they have a high positive multiplier effect on other economic activities. The pandemic slowed the pace of road building. 

Private participation remains low, the Survey shows. It also highlights what ails India’s public health system. Access has not improved much in the past decade, while penetration of private hospitals is rising, that charge substantially more than the public ones.
