The Municipal Corporation of Vijayawada presented its 2012-13 annual budget for Rs 1084.72 crore as against Rs 1,903.66 crore in 2011-12. It projected Rs 639.72 crore from the central government through various schemes being implemented now.
The civic body is expecting Rs 487 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Rs 100 crore from the Rajiv Avas Yojana housing and Rs 18 crore from the 13th Finance Commission funds from the central government.
Municipal Commissioner, G Ravi Babu, said they had given priority to infrastructure, housing, health and welfare of the people. It was expecting Rs 3.50 crore from the Centre under the National Fisheries Development Board to modernise the fish markets.
