Rs 250 Crore More For I-T Dept Computerisation

The central government is making use of hitech facilities including Internet for tax collection in the country, G N Ramachandran, the union minister of state for finance, said here.

He was inaugurating the Rs 5 crore Pratyashakar Bhavan at Visakhapatnam last week.

The government has taken up total computerisation works in the income tax department and this will be completed very soon.

The main aim of the government is to bring in total transparency in the system of tax collection and greater accountability of the tax collecting machinery, reduce the cost of collection as well as each transaction, he said.
