Rs 293 crore Andhra grant for Hyderabad airport

 The new international airport proposed at Shamshabad, 20 km from Hyderabad, is the second greenfield airport proposed after the Bangalore International Airport Ltd.

 The airport is a joint venture between the Andhra Pradesh government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), with each holding 13 per cent equity.

 A private consortium, led by GMR Vasavi Infrastructure Ltd and Malaysia Airports Holding Berhard, is holding 74 per cent balance.

 According to AAI officials, the project was held up due to paucity of funds. The latest commitment from the Andhra Pradesh government together with the Parliament
