The Centre has announced a Rs 3,154 crore bailout for five cash strapped states. The assistance comprise a five year loan with a grace period for repaying the principal till 2005.
The medium term loan will be in addition to the normal ways and means assistance (WMA) support as well as the Eleventh Finance Commission
