Rs 40,000 Crore For Power Reforms

The Union Cabinet today cleared the broad contours of two schemes involving an expenditure of Rs 40,000 crore to bolster the health of state electricity boards (SEBs).

Central government employees have also been granted an additional 3 per cent dearness allowance (DA).

The power reforms scheme is expected to curb the tendency of state governments to provide free or highly subsidised power to the agricultural sector, health and parliamentary affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said here.
