The Planning Commission has approved a Plan outlay of Rs 5,703 crore for Madhya Pradesh for 2003-04. The state had, however, budgeted for a Plan outlay of Rs 5,901 crore.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today, K C Pant, deputy chairman, Planning Commission, said the state seemed confident of filling the gap by generating additional revenues. The commission had agreed for further revision if the state could generate more revenue at a later stage, Pant added.
Madhya Pradesh had sought the commission's intervention in finalising the Centre's view on the value-added tax (VAT), said Singh.
In the meeting, Singh sought Pant
