Rs 85 crore spent on roads in J&K

A total of Rs 85 crore has been spent on construction of roads in the Kashmir division under the fourth phase of prime minister's Gram Sadak Yojna.
 
Out of a total allocation of Rs 144.50 crore for the entire state, a sum of Rs 85 crore has been spent so far in the Kashmir division, including the Leh and Kargil districts, Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak said today.
 
Work on 20 roads in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts was in progress and would be completed by June end, he said. Similarly, in the Anantnag-Pulwama districts six roads had been taken up and three roads would be completed by June, Charak said addressing a meeting of engineers of the roads and buildings department here.
 
The minister said work on four bridges would be started during the current month.
 
Under the Bharat Nirman project, out of a total allocation of Rs 20 crore, a sum of Rs 5.50 crore has been spent on the construction, upgrade and black topping of some main and link roads, he said.
 
Charak asked the engineers to ensure that all the works taken in hand were completed within stipulated time and the reports submitted by the end of October to the Centre. He also directed them to complete the project work of Bharat Nirman project.
