Rs 9,100 cr Tamil Nadu plan okayed

The Planning Commission today approved an annual Plan size of Rs 9,100 crore for Tamil Nadu in 2005-06, up from Rs 8,001 crore in the current fiscal year.
 
At a meeting with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha sought Rs 300 crore additional allocation of market borrowings in view of its fiscal rating and special allocation under the 'Other Central Assistance' head.
 
She also asked the Centre to reconsider its, "new strategy designed to channelise these funds (external aid) only to certain states, and restricting the same in case of states like Tamil Nadu".
