The issue of reported resignation of Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi today rocked the Rajya Sabha with the Opposition demanding a statement from the government on it, forcing Chairman Hamid Ansari to adjourn the House till noon.

The matter was raised vociferously with Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley describing the situation as "unprecedented".

"This is an unprecedented position. Minister after ministers are resigning. We want to know what is the position of the Railway Budget," he said.

Amid din, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said, "The Prime Minister has not received any resignation from the Railway Minister."

He said the Prime Minister has received a communication from Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and any decision taken will be conveyed to the House.

The Chairman then adjourned the House till noon.
