The Indian rupee turned somewhat weak today losing 7 paise to 44.61 a dollar in early trade in line with the dollar's gain overseas.
Traders said fresh capital outflows by foreign funds amid weakening equity markets also influenced the trading sentiment.
The rupee had closed at 44.54/55 a dollar in the previous session.
The Bombay Stock Exchange index Sensex fell by 34.28 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 17,935.74 points in the opening trade.
