Rupee gains 13 paise/$ in opening trade

The rupee today appreciated by 13 paise to 46.52 a dollar in opening trade largely in line with other firming Asian currencies amid strong equities market.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee appreciated by 13 paise to 46.52 a dollar. The domestic currency yesterday closed 16 paise higher at 46.65/6.

Forex dealers said rupee gained against the dollar in line with other Asian currencies, which were up against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by almost 99 points, or 0.61 per cent to 16141.13 in opening trade today.
