Russian ambassador V I Trubnikov has said the country would put in necessary efforts to get the Centre's clearance to invest in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Ambassador told Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu about the keenness of Russian private companies to invest in hydropower, tourism, infrastructure building, food processing and other sectors for which Arunachal Pradesh has a huge potential.

Trubnikov left for Guwahati today after a three-day visit to the state.

During yesterday's meeting with the Khandu, the Russian ambassador recalled the decades old strategic relationship between the two countries and expressed desire to extend it to Arunachal and other north eastern states.

"We have adequate knowledge of the landscape and seismic conditions of the area having worked in exploration of oil and coal in neighbouring Assam 50 years back," he said, adding Arunachal being one of the most peaceful states in India was suitable for foreign investors.

He said the state-of-the art technology available in his country could be put to good use to tap Arunachal's hydropower, tourism, food processing, agriculture and horticulture, road and other infrastructure development.

While apprising the Russian ambassador of the various untapped natural resources the hilly tribal state was endowed with, the Chief Minister told him that the state was ready to forge business ties with Russia, once the clearance from the Centre was obtained.
