Russia keen on diamond search in Jharkhand

The Russian Ambassador in India, Vyacheslav I Trubnikov, who met Jharkhand governor, Sayed Sibtey Razi and the chief minister, Madhu Koda on January 31, told reporters that Russia was interested in exploring diamond reserves in Jharkhand.

Russia had experienced geological experts to undertake detailed geological survey on the quantity and quality of diamond reserves in Jharkhand.

The five-member Russian embassy delegation came here to find out the possibilities of investments, technical transfers and joint ventures in establishing infrastructure and industries.

During discussion with the Russian delegation both the Governor and the chief minister pleaded for joint venture industries in Jharkhand with Russia.

The Ambassador said both India and Russia could play a vital role in developing the economy in both through joint ventures in various fields.

The ambassador said that with the changed economic condition of the world, his country believed that a country could rise in its economic stability by with the help of public- private sector partnership.

The Ambassador visited the three plants of the Heavy Engineering Corporation "� the Heavy Machine Building Plant set up in collaboration with erstwhile USSR, and the Foundry Forge Plant and Heavy Machine Tools Plant both set up in collaboration with the erstwhile CSSR or Skoda of the former nation of Czechoslovakia.

The Russian Ambassador was accompanied by Vladimir Lasarev, consul-general in Kolkata and Vladimir Chryssanthov, head of the commercial, economic and financial affairs section of the embassy.
