The Madhya Pradesh government has recommended the 6th Pay Commission in accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) to the universities’ staff including respective registrars, vice-chancellors, sports officers and librarians with effect from January 2006. Of this, the central government will share Rs 383.97 crore. “The state government has written a letter to the Centre to release the fund at the earliest,” higher education minister Laxmikant Sharma said today. “The arrears from January 1, 2006 to 31 August 2008 will be paid separately to all the universities’ staff. The government will release payments from September 2008,” he said.
