Targets 12 pc marketshare in Andhra by year-end

The solutions division of Samsung India Electronics is targeting a 12 per cent market share in the branded personal computer (PC) market of the country by the end of this year.

In quantity terms, it targets to sell a lakh of PCs by end of 2003. The country, on an average sells about 2.2 million PCs per annum, of which 66 per cent constitute assembled segment and the rest branded segment.

The solutions division of Samsung started selling PCs under the BuildurPC (BUPC) concept, which offers customised computers to the customers from February this year.

 

The company has also fixed a 12 per cent market share target for Andhra Pradesh in the current calendar year.

It is targeting to sell 4,800 PCs by end of 2003 in the state. The total market size of PCs in the state is 1.5 lakh pieces per annum. Out of this, 55,000 are branded and over 90,000 are assembled PCs.
