Sanjay Dutt gets bail till Jan 18

The TADA court today granted bail till January 18 to actor Sanjay Dutt and seven others convicted in the 1993 bomb blasts case.

The court, on December 19, had extended Sanjay's bail till today.

The court will hear Dutt's application to waive punishment under the Probation of Offenders Act and arguments on the quantum of his sentence on January 18.

The others, whose bail was extended till January 18, are Somnath Thapa, Imtiaz Ghawte, Kersi Adjania, Dayamusa Bhivandiwala, Zebunisa Kazi, Rusi Mulla and Yusuf Nallwala.

Special Judge Pramod Kode asked Somnath Thapa and Kersi Adjania to remain present on January 5 as both were absent today.

Hundred out of the total 123 accused in the blasts case have been convicted. The court is currently hearing the defence's arguments on the quantum of punishment.

Sanjay was found guilty under the Arms Act on November 28 for possessing a 9-mm pistol and an AK-56 rifle in the 1993 bomb blast case.
