The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the Rs 7,800-crore Satyam scam after taking over from the state CID, on Wednesday complained to the High Court that the state government was not cooperating with it in taking the investigation forward. The state government has not even provided infrastructure that it had asked for, the CBI said.
Responding to this, the High Court directed the state government to reply to the charges within two and a half hours. Later in the day, the state government said it would provide temporary accommodation to the CBI team at the Dilkusha guest house here.
The CBI had earlier asked the state government to provide accommodation for its team, an office space, a platoon of armed force and six laptops. It also said that the various documents that the CID had seized in connection with the Satyam case were put in many trunks and they needed to be kept in a safe place.
The Andhra Pradesh government had issued a GO handing over the Satyam case to the CBI on February 13. Prior to this, state chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had written twice to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to instruct the officials concerned to take over the investigation of the Satyam fraud.
