The 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) has replaced T S Darbari, accused of irregularities, with Anil Kumar Saxena, the joint director general for venue development and operations.
Though the OC didn’t have any official comment, a source close to the development told Business Standard, “Today was the first day when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) interrogated T S Darbari. The inquiry will take long. In the meantime, A K Saxena has been given the charge.” ED officials did not comment on the matter.
Though his new designation is yet to be known, Saxena has worked with the OC’s revenue and sponsorships departments, where he was additional director general.
Another official in the OC, who did not wish to be identified, said though nothing had been formally decided, someone had to be given the charge.
The development came three days after Darbari pleaded innocence and denied any involvement in irregularities of payments to AM Cars and Vans Hire and AM Films — the service providers for the launch of the Queen’s Baton Relay functions in London in October last year.
