Sc Asks States To Lift Foodgrains Immediately

BUSINESS STANDARD

The Supreme Court today asked the state governments to immediately lift the entire allotment of foodgrains from the central government under various poverty alleviation schemes and distribute them to the needy. The central government shall ascertain the implementation of the various schemes.

The court regretted that 13 state governments and Union Territories have not yet identified the people below the poverty line (BPL) despite its order two weeks ago.
