Sc Rejects Small Units Petitions

The Supreme Court today dismissed a large batch of petitions moved by small industries in Delhi, which had been closed for running hazardous trade in non-conforming areas.

Thousands of units, categorised as hazardous in a survey conducted at the instance of the court, were ordered to be closed five years ago.

Several units had moved review petitions against the order, without success. Therefore, they returned to the court by filing writ petitions raising the same arguments.The Bench headed by Justice G B Pattanaik said the issues settled once could not be raised again in other forms. The court said in the Birla Textile Mills case, it had laid down the procedure to be followed if the litigants wanted to point out gross errors in its judgment.
