Allowing a petition filed by Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam(DMK) leader K Anbazaghan, seeking transfer of the trial to another state, alleging that witness after witness had resiled from their statements, a bench comprising Justice SN Variava and Justice HK Sema said the cases were being transferred to Karnataka to maintain the sanctity of the justice delivery system and the faith of the common man in it.
The cases emanated from a complaint filed by Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, alleging that Jayalalitha had amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 66 crore, disproportionate to her known sources of income.
Petitioners alleged that after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (AIADMK), headed by Jayalalitha, assumed office, as many as 64 witnesses resiled from their statement but the public prosecutor took no steps to declare them
