A high-level business delegation from the US, led by California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, is expected to visit Karnataka to explore investment options. |
Karnataka's industries minister Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, who recently returned from a visit to the US, claimed that the state had secured commitment for investments worth Rs 2,000 crore from various firms. |
"We want to ensure that these commitments are implemented at the earliest. A US trade delegation will be in Bangalore to hold discussions," he said. |
Among the projects proposed by the US firms is a biotechnology university (for research and education) by the Los Angeles-based Genomic Solution between Bangalore and Mysore at an estimated investment of Rs 400 crore. |
Other projects proposed are a Health City to promote medical tourism (Rs 150 crore) and a medical equipment manufacturing unit by UCA Global Incorporation at Mysore. |
"In the last six months, Karnataka has received the highest investments in sectors like IT, petrochemicals and steel production. We intend to maintain the leadership by attracting more foreign investment," Naidu added. |
