The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) is considering allowing privatised public sector units (PSUs) to remain members even after disinvestment. As part of its restructuring and refocusing plan in the post-liberalisation and post-divestment scenario, the organisation is also pushing for the closure of unviable public sector enterprises (PSEs), restructuring of viable ones and rationalisation of labour laws to allow government-owned companies to hire and fire.
While a final decision has not yet been taken, the organisation is in the process of restructuring its articles of association to allow privatised companies to remain members.
