SDF heading for a landslide victory in Sikkim

The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front led by Pawan Kumar Chamling, is heading for landslide victory in the assembly polls having won five seats and established sizeable leads in other constituencies.     

Chamling led the SDF's surge towards a fourth consecutive term in office by winning from the Poklok-Kamrang assembly constituency, while he is also leading from Namchi-Singhithang, the other seat he contested.     

The SDF president defeated his nearest Congress rival Purna Kumari Rai by 5956 votes.The SDF has won four other seats - Barfung (BL), Khamdong-Singtam, West Pendam (SC) and Kabi-Lunchuk (BL).     

First timer SDF nominee Am Prasad Sharma, in a giant killing act, vanquished Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee president and former chief minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari by 1266 votes from the Khamdong-Singtam seat.     

 

SDF candidate Sonam Gyatso Bhutia emerged victorious from Barfung (BL) seat defeating Congress's Lonzang Bhutia by 3852 votes.SDF nominee Neeru Sewa was declared elected from West Pendam (SC) assembly constituency by 1163 votes over her nearest Congress rival Jagdish Cintury.     

SDF candidate Thenlay Tshering Bhutia won from Kabi-Lunchuk (BL) constituency in North Sikkim defeating his Congress rival Ugen Nedup Bhutia by 1164 votes.
