Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), with its lone Lok Sabha MP, today offered unconditional support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) which is set to form the government at the Centre, SDF president Pawan Kumar Chamling said.
"I have sent a letter to the UPA leadership as well as the President of India extending our unconditional support to the UPA," the SDF President said.
"The SDF will provide unconditional support to the UPA as was the case in 2004," Chamling told reporters at Raj Bhavan.
"My party has never asked for bargain in lieu of its support nor will it ever do so," he said.
He said that he was contacted by the Congress leaders at the Centre for extending support to the UPA government.
Chamling, at the same time, reiterated his wish that the ruling national alliance should consider giving some role to the SDF's Lok Sabha MP in the next government, but said that he will not not put up a formal demand in this regard.
