Security forces in Bihar have been put on maximum alert in view of todays statewide bandh called by the state unit of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in protest against false implication of the partys national president Laloo Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam.
Director general of police S K Saxena said that all the police stations have been put on maximum alert and close surveillance is being maintained on the activities of the bandh supporters to avoid any clash or untoward incidents.
Saxena said besides the existing police strength, 31 companies of central para-military forces have been deployed in different parts of the state.

Besides, police patrolling has also been intensified and special care being taken to avoid damage to railway property.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal legislature party yesterday reposed faith in the partys national president Laloo Prasad Yadav and pledged to support the bandh and subsequent fill-the-jail agitation called to protest against his false implication in the fodder scam.
The Bihar unit of RJD has called a state-wide bandh to be followed by a seven-day fill-the-jail campaign from today to protest against the CBIs false implication of Yadav in the scam.
The RJDLP, which met at Chief Minister Rabri Devis official residence here took stock of the situation after Yadav was remanded to judicial custody, party spokesman Vijay Krishna said. The meeting also resolved to keep the party united.
Krishna said the RJDLP pledged to extend full support to the agitational programmes called by state unit of the party in protest against the CBI chargesheet against Yadav.
biswas visits special jail
patna, july 31 :pti: the cbi joint director (east), dr u biswas, today visited the special jail at phulwarishariff, where former bihar chief minister, mr laloo prasad yadav, is being held in judicial custody.
Dr biswas, who is in-charge of the investigations into fodder scam, went to the special jail at around 1200 hours and stayed only for 15 minutes, cbi sources said.
Mr yadav was remanded to judicial custody by a special court here yesterday after it rejected his regular bail plea when he surrendered before it, in a conspiracy angle case of the scam. Pti ajk pc dpt
