Following the Andhra Pradesh government issuing an ordinance amending the APMC Act on the lines of the model Act drafted by the central government, the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers and Commerce and Industry (Fapcci) is holding a seminar on June 14 on 'Agriculture beyond APMC Act Reform: Roadmap for Agriculture in AP' to create awareness on opportunities in agriculture and horticulture in the state.

"With the government ushering in the required reforms, it is time for the industry to respond," S Sivakumar, chairman of the Fapcci's agricultural and agro industry committee and chief executive (agri business) of ITC Ltd, said while briefing about the seminar here on Friday.

He told mediapersons that seven states have so far amended the APMC Act while 16 states have confirmed that they would amend the Act as per the guidelines of the Union government.

Fapcci president OP Goenka said that over 200 delegates, including representatives of the farmers, would take part in the one-day seminar.
