Normal life came into a halt on Wednesday when serial bomb blasts were reported from different corners of the city. The blasts, which took place around 10 am, left five persons seriously injured while at least 15 others sustained minor injuries, city police sources said here.
The blasts occurred at around 10 am in Ahmedabad Muncipal Transport Service (AMTS) buses at Geeta Mandir Road under Kagdapeth police station, Vasna in Vejalpur police station and Gurukul in Satellite police station areas, police said. The bombs were hidden under the seats, they added. The seriously injured have been shifted to civic hospitals, they said.
Six passengers were injured in the blast at Geeta Mandir Road while four were injured at Vasna. Two persons were injured in Gurukul, police said. The identity of those involved in the crime has not yet been established, they added.

Searches in a number of sensitive areas in the city led to the recovery of two other crude bombs kept inside two AMTS buses in Kalupur and Bopal area of the city.
Following the incidents, as news spread across the city and adjoining areas, people started closing down shops and establishments and most AMTS buses were withdrawn from the city. Even the state and central government offices wore a deserted look.
Commissioner of Police, K R Kaushik, in his appeal to citizens, said any object lying unattended inside any public vehicle should not be touched and the police should be informed immediately.
