Seven bus terminals to be built on PPP model

Gujarat government will develop seven modern and state-of-the art bus terminals along with commercial facilities at seven locations in four cities of the state on public private partnership (PPP) basis. "The locations are Gita Mandir and Subhash bridge at Ahmedabad, central bus station and makarpura in Baroda, headquarter premises and Adajan in Surat and Modhera cross road at Mehsana," a senior official in the state transport department told PTI.

Giving details of the project, he said, "The project comprises of construction of bus terminals along with passengers' amenities, office for Gujarat state road transport corporation (GSRTC) and commercial facilities like shops, show rooms and restaurants."

 

"The developer to be selected through bids will be responsible for desgning, financing and building the entire project and also the maintenance of bus terminals for concession period," the official added.

The government will offer land of existing bus stations for building the bus terminals and commercial properties of the project. According to him, the entire project is likely to be completed within two years after the contract for works is awarded following the bids.
