Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik has pitched for shifting of polluting industries out of Bhubaneswar to prepare it embrace the tag of a metro city.
"Bhubaneswar will be the next metro with provision of civic amenities to accommodate 50 lakh people. We have to visualise a megacity taking into account Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Industries which are pollution free like software, hard ware units should be encouraged," said Patnaik at the concluding day of observation of Entrepreneurs Week, 2013.
"Do not clutter the future of this metro city with polluting units," he exhorted.

He informed that a circular will be issued within a week to all the departments for implementing the provisions of the Industrial Policy Resolution -2007 and MSME Development Policy 2009.
The industry bodies have complained that various government departments are not implementing the provisions of the IPR on the pretext that notifications have not been issued.
The MSME representatives expressed their dissatisfaction over non-performance of task force constituted for monitoring of adherence to government purchase policy and timely payment to the MSME units by the government departments. He asked the task force to meet on fifth of every month under the chairmanship of Director, Export Promotion & Marketing for effective monitoring and implementation of the IPR policy and marketing of products.
On the recurring demands of industry bodies for a separate corporation under the banner of Small Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIIDCO), he said, the proposal is under active consideration.
Till then (formation of another corporation), the MSME cell of Idco (Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha) will dedicate two days every week to deal with MSME grievances and sort out their problems, he added.
Entrepreneurs also urged him to ensure that all items listed under export promotion marketing rate contract and manufactured by MSMEs should be directly purchased by different government departments as quality is ensured through various mechanism of testing and inspection.
