It was disclosed during the checking that out of 27 petrol pumping stations, only three were supplying petrol and a large number of customers in long queues were waiting. No surplus stock was found except in one petrol pumping station.
But the district administration's claim that the stock of one and half lakh liters of petrol is available and it will be distributed is found to be ill-founded because most of the petrol pumps had no stock of petrol. The activists have alleged that the nexus between the supply department and petrol stockists has created the crisis and if the stock is not kept open for distribution, they would resort to massive agitation in the Sena style.
Autorikshaw action committee members have also demonstrated against the scarcity of petrol and submitted a statement to the collector on Tuesday with protest slogans against the government and with demand that petrol should be supplied immediately.
