Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal today warned of severe action against those found guilty of ragging newcomers in their respective institutions, hostels and other areas.

The UGC has enforced a regulation to prevent ragging and anybody found violating it would be punished, Sibal said.It is not only on the college campus, but the regulation is applicable in hostels and buses also, he said.

Referring to the helpline service, Sibal said since the launching of the service, the response is very good.

Complaints received through the helpline are constantly monitored.Though there are a few bogus complaints received in the helpline, action is being taken on genuine complaints, he said.
