Simhadri unit ranks second in generation

 The Simhadri plant has generated 4563.24 million units during the period from April to last October with 88.85 per cent plant load factor (PLF), which is the second best among all NTPC thermal stations, according to a press release.

 The first 500 mw unit of Simhadri was synchronised with the AP grid in February, 2002. The second unit was commissioned in March this year. The first unit was completed in a record 39 months. During 2002-03 the plant generated 2464.96 million units at a PLF of 84.53 per cent.

 The plant is the most modern power project in India. It has the distinction of having its natural draft cooling tower, which is Asia's highest with a height of 165 metre, stated the release here.
